Anti-fleas, anti-ticks, anti-lice based on fipronil. Solution for skin spray for cats and dogs.
Product equivalent to Frontline, Fyperix, Fiprokil, Fiprotec and Effipro.

Treatment of infestations by fleas, ticks and biting lice.
The insecticidal efficacy against new infestations by adult fleas persists for up to 6 weeks in cats and up to 3 months in dogs, depending on the environmental context. The duration of the acaricidal efficacy of the product is 4 weeks against ticks, depending on the environmental pressure of infestation.

Properties :
Fipronil is an insecticide and acaricide belonging to the phenylpyrazole family. It acts by inhibiting the GABA complex, binding to the chloride channel and thus blocking the pre- and post-synaptic passage of chloride ions across the cell membrane. This results in uncontrolled activity of the central nervous system and in the death of insects or mites.
Fipronil exhibits insecticidal and acaricidal activity against fleas (Ctenocephalides sp.), ticks (Rhipicephalus sp., Ixodes sp.) and lice (Trichodectes sp. and Felicola sp.) in dogs and cats.
The amount of fipronil absorbed by the skin in dogs, after spraying on the coat and skin, is extremely low or even negligible.
The persistence of fipronil on the hair is very long (on average 52.5 ± 11.5 days), knowing that the limit of quantification of the method for measuring the concentrations present is 0.25 μg/g.
In all species, fipronil is mainly metabolized to its sulfone derivative (RM1602), which also has insecticidal and acaricidal properties.

Directions:
In cats and dogs:
Treatment of flea infestations (Ctenocephalides spp.).
Treatment of tick infestations (Ixodes ricinus, Rhipicephalus sanguineus).
Treatment of biting lice infestations in dogs (Trichodectes canis) and cats (Felicola subrostratus).
The product can be integrated into a therapeutic program for the treatment of Flea Bite Hypersensitivity Dermatitis (D.H.P.P.)

Usage tips :
Route of administration: Manual spray gun for external use only.

Dosage:
In order to moisten the coat down to the skin, apply 3 to 6 ml per kg of body weight (i.e. 7.5 to 15 milligrams of fipronil per kilogram of body weight), depending on the length of the hair.
This dosage can be obtained by carrying out 2 to 4 sprays per kilogram of body weight.
Depending on hair length: The gun in the 100 milliliter presentation sprays 0.5 milliliters per spray. It allows to treat 4 to 8 times a cat of 4 kilograms or up to 3 times a dog of 10 kilograms.

Administration mode :
Place the nozzle of the gun in the spray position. Spray the product on the entire coat of the animal from a distance of about 10-20 centimeters. Apply against the direction of hair growth, ensuring that the entire coat of the animal is moistened.
Massage the coat, especially in long-haired animals, so that the product penetrates to the skin.
For the treatment of the area around the head, or to treat young or nervous animals, the application can be done by first spraying the product on a glove and then rubbing the glove on the coat.
Allow to dry in the open air. Do not use a towel to dry the animal.

Properties :

The formula contains a covering agent among the excipients. The spray therefore creates a film which is deposited on the coat and makes it shiny.

To effectively control flea and/or tick infestations, the treatment regimen can take into account the local epidemiological situation. In the absence of safety studies, the minimum treatment interval is 4 weeks. Puppies and kittens can be treated from the age of 2 days.

Composition :
Fipronil: 2.5 milligrams
Excipient q.s.p. 1 milliliter.

Contraindications:
Do not use in sick animals (systemic illnesses, fever, etc.) or convalescents.
Do not use in rabbits as sometimes lethal side effects may occur.
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active ingredient, or to any of the excipients.

Special warnings:

Use in case of pregnancy or lactation

Laboratory studies did not reveal any teratogenic effects of fipronil in rats and rabbits. Fipronil is very well tolerated in puppies after treatment of lactating females. No specific study data on the use of the product during the pregnancy of female dogs, queens or the lactation period of queens is available. The safety of the veterinary medicinal product has not been established, therefore use should only be made after a benefit/risk assessment has been established by the veterinarian.

Overdose

The risk of side effects may increase in the event of an overdose. In case of overdose, apply appropriate symptomatic treatment.

Special warnings for each target species

Do not exceed the prescribed dose. Avoid contact with the animal's eyes. Do not spray directly on damaged skin areas. Ensure that treated animals are allowed to dry in a well-ventilated room. Do not confine animals in an enclosed space or in an animal carrier until the coat is completely dry. In the absence of specific tolerance and efficacy data, it is not recommended to use the product in species other than dogs and cats. As part of a therapeutic program for the treatment of Flea Bite Hypersensitivity Dermatitis (DHPP), a monthly application of the product to the allergic animal as well as to other cats and dogs in the household is recommended. For optimal effectiveness, it is recommended not to bathe the animals or to shampoo them in the two days preceding or following the treatment with the product. It has been shown that baths or shampoos performed up to 4 times in two months had no significant effect on the residual efficacy of the product. Monthly treatment is recommended with more frequent shampoos. Areas where the animal is used to lying down such as carpets, sofas, car interiors etc. should be treated with an appropriate insecticide that will help treat the environment and maximize the duration of protection against reinfestation. To combat flea problems in an optimal way, in a household where several animals live, all the dogs and cats in the household must be treated with an appropriate insecticide. Keep out of the reach and sight of children.

Special precautions for use in animals

Make sure animals do not lick each other after treatment. It is possible that isolated ticks cling. For this reason, under unfavorable conditions, the transmission of infectious diseases cannot be completely ruled out. The product is not suitable for direct environmental treatment. Keep animals away from fire or any source of heat, and surfaces that may be damaged by the alcohol spray, at least for 30 minutes after spraying and until the coat is completely dry.

Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals

This product may cause irritation to mucous membranes and eyes. Therefore any contact of the product with the mouth or eyes should be avoided. Animals or users with known hypersensitivity to insecticides or alcohol should avoid contact with the product. Avoid touching the contents with your fingers. If this happens, wash your hands with soap and water. In case of accidental eye exposure, rinse eyes thoroughly with clean water. Until the coat is dry, treated animals should not be handled and children should not be allowed to play with treated animals. It is therefore recommended not to treat the animals during the day but rather in the early evening, and not to let the animals which have just been treated sleep with their masters, especially with children. Spray the product on the animals in the open air or in a well ventilated room. Do not breathe the product. Do not smoke, drink or eat during application. Wear PVC or nitrile gloves when handling animals.

Side effects :
If the animal licks itself, a brief episode of hypersalivation may be observed, mainly related to the nature of the solvent. Among the extremely rare suspected adverse reactions, cases of transient skin reactions such as erythema, pruritus or alopecia have been reported after use. Exceptionally, cases of hypersalivation, reversible neurological symptoms (hyperesthesia, depression, nervous symptoms), vomiting or respiratory signs have been observed after use.
