Anti-flea, anti-tick pipette for cats based on fipronil.
From 1 Kilogram and / or 2 months.

Directions:
In cats: Treatment of infestations by fleas (Ctenocephalides spp.).

The insecticidal effectiveness prevents any new flea infestation for 4 weeks.
The drug can be integrated into a treatment program for Flea Allergy Dermatitis (DAPP), when this diagnosis has been made by a veterinarian.
Although immediate acaricidal efficacy has not been demonstrated for this product, persistent acaricidal activity for up to one week has been demonstrated against Ixodes ricinus ticks.
If Ixodes ricinus ticks are already present when the medicine is applied, all ticks may not be killed within the first 48 hours but they may be killed within a week.

Usage tips :
Route of administration and dosage:
For local application on the skin only. For external use only.
A pipette of 0.5 mL allows the treatment of one cat, which corresponds to a minimum recommended dose of 5 mg of fipronil per kg of body weight.
The minimum interval between two applications should not be less than 4 weeks.

For safe application:
Detach one of the cells from the blister. This avoids the accidental opening of the rest of the blister which protects the still unopened pipettes from humidity. Open the cell with scissors. To avoid damaging the pipette, cut along the line marked with a pair of scissors. Gently remove the aluminum foil from the cut end and take out the pipette.
Hold the pipette vertically. Lightly tap the pipette to lower all the liquid content into the body of the pipette. Fold the part located above the pipette backwards. The pipette can now be tilted, if required. To open the pipette, break its tip by bending it sharply at the pre-cut line.
Part the hair between the shoulder blades so that the skin is visible. Place the tip of the pipette on the skin and squeeze the pipette several times to completely empty it of its contents directly on the skin and at a single point.
Applying the solution near the base of the head limits the risk of the animal licking off the solution. Ensure that animals do not lick each other after treatment.
Care should be taken to avoid wetting the coat too much with the product, as this would result in the appearance of sticky hairs in the treated area. If this were the case, however, this aspect would disappear within 24 hours of application.

Composition :
A 0.5 milliliter pipette contains:
Active substance(s):
Fipronil ………………………………………….......…… 50.00 milligrams
Excipient(s):
Butylhydroxyanisole (E 320) ……….…………….. 0.10 milligrams
Butylhydroxytoluene (E 321) …………………….. 0.05 milligrams

Contraindications:
Do not use in kittens less than 8 weeks old and/or weighing less than 1 kg, in the absence of available data.
Do not use in sick (systemic illness, fever, etc.) or convalescent animals.
Do not use in rabbits as sometimes lethal side effects may occur.
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.

Side effects :
In case of licking, a brief episode of hypersalivation can be observed, mainly related to the nature of the solvent.
Among the adverse effects, very rare cases of transient skin reaction at the application site (desquamation, local alopecia, pruritus, erythema) as well as generalized pruritus or alopecia have been reported after use.
Very rarely, hypersalivation, reversible neurological symptoms (hyperaesthesia, depression, nervous symptoms) or vomiting have been observed after use.
The frequency of adverse reactions is defined using the following convention
Very common (adverse effects in more than 1 in 10 animals during treatment)
Common (between 1 and 10 animals in 100)
Uncommon (between 1 and 10 in 1,000 animals)
Rare (between 1 and 10 animals in 10,000)
Very rare (less than 1 animal in 10,000, including isolated cases).

Special Warnings:
* Special precautions for use in animals:
The veterinary medicinal product does not prevent infestations of the animal by ticks.
For best flea control when there are multiple animals in the same household, all dogs and cats should be treated with an approved insecticide.
Pet fleas often infest the pet's bed, sleeping area and resting areas such as carpets, sofas, etc. In the event of heavy infestation and from the start of pest control measures, these places should be treated with an appropriate insecticide and vacuumed regularly.
The influence of baths or shampoos on the efficacy of this veterinary medicinal product has not been evaluated in cats. However, studies carried out in dogs show that a medicated shampoo, followed by a complete drying of the animal, 1 to 2 hours before the application of the treatment and the weekly bathing of the animal for 6 weeks does not affect not the effectiveness of this veterinary medicinal product against fleas in dogs.

Avoid bathing or immersion in water for two days following application of the product.

Used as part of a treatment program for the control of flea allergy dermatitis, monthly applications to allergic cats and other household pets are recommended.

It is important to ensure that the product is applied to an area where the animal cannot lick it off.
Ensure that newly treated animals do not lick each other.
Avoid contact with the animal's eyes. In case of accidental contact of the veterinary medicinal product with the eyes, wash immediately with plenty of water.

Do not apply the veterinary medicinal product to wounds or skin lesions.

It is possible that a few ticks remain attached. The risk of transmission of infectious diseases cannot therefore be completely excluded if the conditions are unfavourable.

* Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals:
This product may cause irritation to mucous membranes and eyes. Therefore, any contact of the product with the mouth and eyes should be avoided.
In case of accidental contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water. If eye irritation persists, seek medical advice immediately and show the package leaflet or the label to the physician.
Avoid contact with fingers. In case of contact, immediately wash fingers with soap and water.
Wash hands after use.
Do not smoke, drink or eat while applying the product.
People with known hypersensitivity to fipronil or any of the excipients should avoid contact with this veterinary medicinal product.
Do not handle treated animals and do not allow children to play with treated animals until the application site is dry. It is therefore recommended not to treat the animals during the day but rather in the early evening. In addition, it is advisable not to let treated animals sleep with their masters, especially children.
Keep pipettes in the original packaging and dispose of used pipettes immediately.

* Other precautions:
The product may have adverse effects on painted, varnished or other household surfaces or furniture.

* Use in case of pregnancy, lactation:
Laboratory studies with fipronil have not revealed any teratogenic or embryotoxic effects.
No studies with this drug have been performed in females during pregnancy or lactation. The use of the product during pregnancy or lactation will only take place after evaluation of the benefit/risk ratio by the attending veterinarian.

* Drug and other interactions:
None known.

* Overdose:
The toxicity of the veterinary medicinal product applied to the skin is very low. The risk of adverse effects (see section “Undesirable effects”) may however increase in the event of an overdose, which means that animals should always be treated with the pipette size corresponding to their body weight.

Specific studies on the safety of the product after repeated administration or in the event of overdose have not been carried out, since the toxicological profile of the active substance and the excipients is known.
